False Doctrines Examined

Various False Doctrines Examined

Al and I have been Seventh Day Adventists for many years.  I was raised a Seventh Day Adventist and Al was baptized in 1979.  Through the years, we have met many different people, teaching many different doctrines.   We have learned to be very critical (hopefully not in the wrong way), to examine what is taught and to compare it with the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy carefully.  As we all know, there are many “counterfeits” and false doctrines being taught, and the more truth that error can wrap itself up in, the harder it is to see the error.  In other words, the best counterfeit doctrine is one that is mostly truth.

Some have taken the stand that it is right to speak out against a false doctrine, but that we shouldn’t mention WHO it is teaching that false doctrine.  Please consider the following quote:

False teachers may appear to be very zealous for the work of God, and may expend means to bring their theories before the world and the church; but as they mingle error with truth, their message is one of deception, and will lead souls into false paths. They are to be met and opposed, not because they are bad men, but because they are teachers of falsehood and are endeavoring to put upon falsehood the stamp of truth.  {TM 55.1}

We do not believe that because someone is teaching something new, that it is necessarily error.  But, we do believe that we need to carefully examine it –

If a brother is teaching error, those who are in responsible positions ought to know it; and if he is teaching truth, they ought to take their stand at his side. We should all know what is being taught among us; for if it is truth, we need it. We are all under obligation to God to know what He sends us. He has given directions by which we may test every doctrine,--"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." If the light presented meets this test, we are not to refuse to accept it because it does not agree with our ideas.--Gospel Workers, pp. 300, 301.  {CW 43.3}

With these two quotes in mind, we wil try, as time permits, to post information regarding some of the erroneous doctrines being taught today, and by whom they are being taught.  Hopefully this information will help some who are confused and who are not sure as to which side the truth is on.
